How to Host Hanukkah with Chutzpah: The Nosh Table Way

How to Host Hanukkah with Chutzpah: The Nosh Table Way

It’s the most nosh-able time of the year,  and at The Nosh Table, we’re here to help you light up your Hanukkah table with style!

Whether you’re hosting a full-blown Hanukkah bash or setting the table for a cozy night enjoying crispy latkes, here’s how to bring the celebration to life with a dash of Jewish-Italian flair.

1. Light up your table with dinnerware that sparks joy

This year we're setting the table with our new wavy blue schmutz napkins, an eye-catching piece that we are so excited landed in the NY Times! For dessert, we're using our new disposable dinner plates and napkins because we all know sufganiyot can get messy.

2.  Dress up your Nosh Table Swirl Seder Plate for Hanukkah

Did you know our Swirl Seder Plate can be used all year round? That's right, and this year we are filling it playful nosh! Here are 3 ways you can dress up your Swirl Seder Plate for Hanukkah.

  • Fill it with sweet nosh: think colorful candies, chocolate covered pretzels, and of course, gelt!
  • Add your favorite latke toppings like sour cream, apple sauce, chives and more
  • Use it to spin the dreidel and fill it with gelt which is fun for the whole family!

3. Try a new Jewish & Italian inspired latke recipe

Have you ever tried Zucchini Parmesan Potato Latkes? You heard it here first; these crispy, cheesy latkes are a love letter to our Jewish and Italian roots. They're light, golden, and packed with flavor.

Recipe: Zucchini Parmesan Potato Latkes

Ingredients:

  • 2 medium russet potatoes (peeled)
  • 1 large zucchini
  • ½ small sweet onion
  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup grated parmesan
  • ¼ cup matzo meal (or breadcrumbs)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Neutral oil for frying (we love avocado oil)
  • Optional toppings: tomato sauce, basil, whipped feta

Instructions:

  1. Grate the potatoes, zucchini, and onion. Place in a kitchen towel and wring out all the excess liquid (this is key to crispiness!).
  2. Transfer to a large bowl and mix in the egg, parmesan, matzo meal, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Scoop the latke mixture into small mounds, flatten slightly, and fry ~3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  4. Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate. Serve warm with your Italian-inspired toppings of choice!

These latkes are perfect for night 3 or 4 when you want something a little different; a little more la dolce vita.

4. Our favorite latke toppings that go beyond apple sauce

Latkes are the perfect nosh to top with fun flavors! Here are 3 of our favorite latke toppings perfect for any party.

  • Ricotta & honey: add a creamy cloud of fresh ricotta cheese and a drizzle of honey for the perfect combination of salty and sweet
  • Mascarpone & chives: an Italian twist on sour cream, mascarpone cheese adds a sweet richness to latkes and pairs well with fresh chives
  • Creme fraiche & lox: a combo for a true mensch, and makes latkes extra delicious for breakfast as well

Wishing You a Hanukkah Full of Flavor, Fun, and Chutzpah

Whether you're spinning the dreidel, frying up latkes, or lighting the menorah with family and friends, we hope The Nosh Table brings a little extra sparkle to your celebrations. From our Jewish-Italian roots to your holiday table, thank you for letting us be part of your traditions!
